Description
There's plenty to discover on this 22 km tour. Allow extra time to explore attractions like the Planetarium in Sessenbach and ceramics at the Keramikbahnhof Grenzau. The route takes you through the forest and historic sites.
Your tour starts in Grenzau at the Hotel Zugbrücke, following the German Limes Cycle Path to the northeast. The circular course begins with curves and flat stretches, tackles the ascent to Kammerforst, and leads uphill through the woods. Descending to Wittgert with a view of the enchanting Sayn Valley. Continuing along the Saynbach, you'll conquer the ascent to the watershed between Brexbach and Saynbach. You'll pass through places like Wirscheid and Sessenbach on your way.
Approach
- BAB 3, Cologne - Frankfurt: Take the exit at Autobahnkreuz 39-Dreieck Dernbach, follow the signs to Trier/Koblenz/A48
- BAB 3, Frankfurt - Cologne: Leave the highway onto E44, follow the signs to Trier/Koblenz/A48, Exit 12-Höhr-Grenzhausen towards Höhr-Grenzhausen/U42
Public transport
Use the train to Koblenz Hbf or the ICE station Montabaur (both 15 km). A taxi or bus line 7/7A to Höhr-Grenzhausen (end station approx. 1.5 km from Grenzau) is recommended.
Parking
Free parking available at Hotel Zugbrücke.
Directions
Start in Grenzau at the Hotel Zugbrücke, follow the German Limes Cycle Path northeast. The tour offers diverse landscapes and historic sites. Through Kammerforst, Wittgert, Saynbach, and Wirscheid, the path leads you back to Grenzau.

Good basic fitness is required.
Equipment
Distribute the weight of your gear on your body and bike. Cycling clothing shields you from temperature fluctuations. Pack spare clothing and tools.
Tips
Visit Europes largest ceramics museum in Höhr-Grenzhausen. Summer events for kids are available.
