Description
On the well over 22 km of this route, there is much to discover. Plan more time to explore sights such as the planetarium in Sessenbach and the ceramics at the ceramic station Grenzau. The route leads through the forest and historic locations.
Your route starts in Grenzau at Hotel Zugbrücke and follows the German Limes cycle route northeast. The circular route starts winding and flat, masters the climb to Kammerforst and leads uphill through the forest. Downhill it goes to Wittgert with a view of the enchanting Sayntal. Along the Saynbach you continue and overcome the ascent to the watershed between Brexbach and Saynbach. You pass places like Wirscheid and Sessenbach on your way.
Approach
- BAB 3, Cologne - Frankfurt: Take the exit at the motorway interchange 39-Dreieck Dernbach, follow the signs to Trier/Koblenz/A48
- BAB 3, Frankfurt - Cologne: Leave the motorway at E44, follow signs Trier/Koblenz/A48, exit 12-Höhr-Grenzhausen towards Höhr-Grenzhausen/U42
Public transport
Use the train to Koblenz main station or the ICE station Montabaur (each 15 km). A taxi or bus line 7/7A to Höhr-Grenzhausen (final stop about 1.5 km from Grenzau) is recommended.
Parking
Free parking is available at Hotel Zugbrücke
Directions
Start in Grenzau at Hotel Zugbrücke, follow the German Limes cycle route northeast. The route offers varied landscapes and historic places. The path leads you back to Grenzau via Kammerforst, Wittgert, Saynbach, and Wirscheid.

Good basic fitness required.
Equipment
Distribute the weight of your equipment on your body and bike. Cycling clothing protects against temperature fluctuations. Pack change of clothes and tools.
Tips
Visit the largest ceramics museum in Europe in Höhr-Grenzhausen. In summer, there are special events for children.
